Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F. Optionally, spray a baking tray with non-stick spray or cover it with foil or parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix together the chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to create the spice rub.
- Place the chicken on the baking tray and pat it dry with a paper towel. Rub the spice mix on both sides of the chicken.
Cooking
- Bake the chicken uncovered for 20 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the oven and brush the BBQ sauce on top, then return to the oven to bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, until cooked through (165°F for breasts, 175°F to 190°F for thighs).
- Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving, covering it with foil to retain moisture.
