Description

A hearty and comforting casserole combining cabbage, beef, and cheese, perfect for busy weeknights or family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup cooked rice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink. Drain the excess fat.
  3. Stir in the chopped cabbage, diced tomatoes, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until the cabbage is tender.
  4. If using, mix in the cooked rice.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish and top with shredded cheese.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3 to 4 days. Can be frozen before or after baking.
